Stern Grove's 2026 Summer Lineup Is About to Be Your Whole Personality

Stern Grove Festival

Stern Grove just dropped their 2026 summer concert lineup, and honestly, it’s giving major main character energy. If you’ve been sleeping on free concerts in San Francisco, this is literally the year to wake up because the schedule is absolutely stacked with artists you’ve actually heard of.

We’re talking about legends like Patti LaBelle and Al Green performing in the Grove this summer. Plus, you’ve got the legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy closing out the Big Picnic Weekend, which is huge if you’re into music that changed the game. The lineup also includes Grammy-nominated Japanese Breakfast, the Violent Femmes (with Bay Area favorites Tune-Yards opening), and rising country artist Charley Crockett. There’s seriously something for everyone, whether you’re into indie, EDM, R&B, or hip-hop.

Here’s what makes this even better: these concerts are completely free. Yes, you read that right. You don’t need to drop hundreds of dollars to experience world-class performances in one of the city’s most beautiful outdoor venues.

The season kicks off on June 14 with Peter Cat Recording Co., followed by Bomba Estereo on June 21. From there, it’s basically a rotating door of incredible talent every Sunday through mid-August. The Big Picnic Weekend on August 15 and 16 is particularly wild because you’re getting two days of major performances, with Goapele and the Glide Ensemble opening for Al Green on Sunday.

Getting tickets is pretty straightforward. Stern Grove runs ticket lotteries that open six weeks before each concert. You can request up to four tickets per lottery, and the entry period lasts one week. Winners get an email with their ticket information within a week after the lottery closes, and you’ve got 72 hours to claim them. They’ll send you a PDF with the actual tickets.

If you want to guarantee your spot without dealing with the lottery, there’s also an in-person community box office for each concert where 1,500 tickets are given out. The dates and locations for these will be announced on the Stern Grove website.

Not feeling lucky? You can always buy community table seats directly. One seat at a community table runs $200, while a full table for 10 starts at $2,000 (prices are higher for the Big Picnic Weekend). All proceeds go back to supporting Stern Grove’s programming.

Mark your calendars now because this lineup is genuinely exceptional. Between the free concerts, the legendary artists, and the gorgeous Grove setting, summer 2026 is shaping up to be absolutely unforgettable. Head to the Stern Grove website to get all the details on the lottery system and start planning your concert season.
