Massive 'No Kings' Protests Are Coming to the Bay Area This Saturday. Here's What You Need to Know

People gather at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison, Wisconsin on June 14, 2025, for the "No Kings" protest.

Get ready for some serious traffic chaos this Saturday. Organizers across the Bay Area are gearing up for the “No Kings” marches, a nationwide day of action against Trump administration policies. If the October 2025 protests are any indication, we’re talking about millions of people hitting the streets.

San Francisco is expecting one of the region’s biggest turnouts. The march kicks off at noon from Sue Bierman Park near The Embarcadero and will snake down Market Street toward Civic Center Plaza, where a rally starts at 2 p.m. Fair warning: the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is already warning of major delays downtown through the early afternoon. Seriously, just take BART or another public transit option if you’re heading into the city.

At the SF rally, speakers will tackle everything from military spending to cuts to domestic programs. Michelle Gutierrez Vo, president of the California Nurses Association, will be speaking about how the Trump administration is defunding healthcare while ramping up military spending. “We need to stop harm, so we can provide care”, Gutierrez Vo said. “And we need to take back the wealth from billionaires, so we can provide care to all who need it and build a healthy society”.

Oakland is also bringing the heat. Marchers will gather at 1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza at 1 p.m. and march through downtown toward the Lake Merritt Amphitheater. Both the 12th Street Oakland City Center and Lake Merritt BART stations are super convenient to the march route.

But this isn’t just happening in the big cities. Protests are popping off across the entire Bay Area, from Contra Costa and Marin to Sonoma. Petaluma’s downtown is bracing for delays starting at 11 a.m.

One particularly sharp focus this time around is Palo Alto, where protesters are planning a 5-6 p.m. action in front of the Palantir offices. If you’re not familiar with Palantir, it’s a major AI and tech company that’s been contracting with ICE to assist in immigration crackdowns and military operations. Scott Herscher from the activist group The Wolves points out that most people have no idea what Palantir actually does or how problematic their government contracts are. “Because it is not consumer facing, many people have no idea what Palantir is, what they do, and how terrifying it is that they are helping ICE detain and deport law abiding community members, depriving them of due process”, Herscher said.

Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, now a professor at UC Berkeley, is calling people to show up. He noted that last year’s “No Kings” rallies were among the biggest protests in American history, but momentum needs to keep building. “King Trump is backed into a corner , and the midterms are coming up fast”, Reich said. “This is why we must stay engaged and keep up the pressure”.
