Women’s professional soccer just got a major Bay Area boost this weekend. Bay FC made history by drawing over 40,000 fans to Oracle Park, effectively doubling its usual home venue capacity and sending a powerful message about the growing appetite for women’s sports.

The match wasn’t just about the game, it was a strategic moment for the team’s broader vision. Bay FC’s leadership, including CEO Brady Stewart, sees this as more than a one-off event. The team is deeply committed to the Bay Area, with plans that extend far beyond a single match.

Next month, Bay FC will break ground on a new training facility on Treasure Island, featuring a 25,000-square-foot building and three professional-size practice fields. This investment signals the team’s long-term commitment to the region and its sports infrastructure.

Stewart emphasized the team’s commitment to community engagement, highlighting their desire to “meet fans everywhere they are”. This approach goes beyond traditional sports marketing, creating a more connected and interactive fan experience that’s particularly characteristic of women’s soccer.

While currently playing at PayPal Park in San Jose, Bay FC is actively exploring future stadium options. The team’s leadership is methodical in its approach, having already evaluated over 70 locations for their Treasure Island facility. Factors like location, fan accessibility, weather, and community integration will guide their stadium search.

The Oracle Park event wasn’t just a match, it was a statement. Bay FC demonstrated that there’s robust, passionate support for women’s professional soccer in the Bay Area. With continued investment and community focus, they’re not just playing a game; they’re building a sports ecosystem that celebrates athleticism, accessibility, and local pride.

As the team continues to grow, one thing is clear: Bay FC is more than a soccer team. It’s becoming a Bay Area institution.
