San Francisco’s culinary landscape is about to get a little more exciting with the upcoming arrival of a Taco Bell Cantina in the iconic Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood.

Set to open between late November and early December, this isn’t your typical fast-food joint. The new Taco Bell Cantina promises a more elevated dining experience, complete with beer, wine, and “Twisted Freezes” - frozen cocktails that will definitely catch the attention of local millennials and tourists alike.

Located in the Anchorage Square shopping center, the restaurant will occupy spaces previously held by Chipotle and Auntie Anne’s. This move is part of a larger transformation by LA-based real estate firm BH Properties, which acquired the shopping center in 2023.

The Cantina concept differs significantly from traditional Taco Bell locations. With more upscale decor, specialty alcoholic beverages, and a unique menu, it’s designed to appeal to a more sophisticated crowd. San Francisco already boasts two other Taco Bell Cantina locations - one near Oracle Park and another famous oceanfront spot in Pacifica.

BH Properties seems committed to reimagining the Anchorage Square shopping center, with plans for new awnings, digital signage, refreshed storefronts, and improvements to the central courtyard area. According to CBRE realtor Alex Sagues, they’re transforming the space into a “premiere destination” that will attract both tourists and locals.

While some might see this as just another chain restaurant, the Taco Bell Cantina represents a broader trend of fast-food establishments trying to appeal to younger, more experience-driven consumers. It’s a testament to how dining concepts continue to evolve in our dynamic city.

So, San Francisco foodies and cocktail enthusiasts, mark your calendars. A new dining adventure awaits in Fisherman’s Wharf.
