San Francisco’s newest coffee spot is turning heads, and it’s not your average cafe. NBA star Jimmy Butler has brought his Bigface coffee pop-up to the Mission District, transforming the former Lucca Ravioli space into a trendy coffee destination that’s drawing crowds of fans and coffee enthusiasts alike.
The pop-up, located at 1100 Valencia Street, isn’t just selling your standard cup of joe. Butler’s brand is offering a luxurious $100 coffee flight that includes an oat milk cappuccino, a specialty beverage, and a pour-over coffee. For those wondering, this isn’t just a marketing gimmick - the concept started during the NBA bubble, where Butler originally sold coffee to fellow players for $20 a cup.
Local fans are already making this spot a must-visit destination. Malak Khatib, a medical research scientist and Butler superfan, took time off work just to attend the opening. “He’s the most fun. Good ball handler. Charismatic. He’s everything,” she said, expressing her admiration for the basketball star turned coffee entrepreneur.
Butler’s coffee shop isn’t just about beverages. The space also functions as a corner market, offering trendy pantry items like Carbone pizza sauce and Graza extra-virgin olive oil. The selection is a deliberate nod to the building’s previous tenant, Lucca Ravioli, which closed in 2019.
The pop-up is scheduled to run through July 27, with potential for an extended stay depending on community reception. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the shop offers more than just coffee - it’s a cultural experience that blends sports, culinary innovation, and local community spirit.
While Butler himself wasn’t present at the opening, the shop’s COO Britt Berg suggested there’s a “high probability” of him stopping by. For Warriors fans and coffee lovers, this pop-up represents more than just a caffeine stop - it’s a unique intersection of sports, entrepreneurship, and Bay Area culture.
