Get ready for a dazzling display of Pride that’ll transform San Francisco’s skyline this weekend. The city’s beloved “Gaysers” - massive rainbow lasers that cut through the iconic Bay Area fog - are set to illuminate Market Street once again, promising an electrifying celebration of LGBTQ+ identity.

Illuminate, the nonprofit behind the famous Bay Lights installation, is bringing back their groundbreaking WelcomeSF laser project. This year’s installation promises to be more intimate and immersive than ever, with laser cannons positioned in Embarcadero Plaza creating what they’re calling the “world’s largest Pride flag”.

The laser spectacle isn’t just about light - it’s a full sensory experience. Alongside the rainbow beams, the 40-foot sculpture “R-Evolution” by Marco Cochrane will also be illuminated, adding another layer of artistic expression to the event.

Friday’s kickoff promises to be a vibrant affair. The celebration starts at 5 pm on Front Street’s 200 block, featuring performances by artists like Tila Pia, Major Hammy, and hosted by local drag legends Bobby Friday and Peaches Christ.

Laser enthusiasts should plan to catch the display between 8-9 pm, with beams continuing from sunset to sunrise through the weekend. Illuminate warns that start times might vary slightly as they fine-tune their new setup.

For those wanting to support the project, the nonprofit is still crowdfunding, having raised just over $17,000 of their $50,000 goal. Their commitment to creating meaningful, visually stunning experiences that celebrate diversity continues to shine bright.

This isn’t just a light show - it’s a statement of pride, visibility, and community resilience that transforms San Francisco’s urban landscape into a canvas of celebration and hope.
