In a dazzling display of timeless talent, music legend Diana Ross brought the house down at Stern Grove’s final concert of the season, proving that age is just a number when it comes to musical prowess.

At 81 years young, Ross commanded the stage with her signature glamour, cycling through multiple glittering costume changes and delivering a performance that spanned decades of musical history. From her iconic Supremes hits like “Baby Love” and “Stop in the Name of Love” to her 1970s classics such as “Love Hangover,” Ross demonstrated why she remains a beloved cultural icon.

The concert wasn’t just a solo performance - Ross was joined mid-set by her eldest daughter Rhonda Ross Kendrick, who sang several songs and even performed a new track written by herself titled “Some Day”. This intergenerational moment highlighted the deep musical roots of the Ross family.

Stern Grove’s final concert capped off a remarkable summer season that attracted between 10,000 to 11,000 attendees each Sunday. The festival has been intentionally curating diverse lineups that appeal to multiple generations, featuring artists like Sleater-Kinney, Channel Tres, Orville Peck, and Chromeo.

Despite minor technical difficulties with sound equipment - which Ross handled with characteristic grace and humor - the performance was a testament to her enduring star power. She even quipped about modern technology, comparing sound issues to “AI cars going around without drivers”.

Closing her set with crowd favorites “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” Ross returned for an encore performance of “Thank You” from her 2021 album, leaving the audience thoroughly enchanted.

As the sun set on Stern Grove’s 88th season, Ross reminded everyone why she remains a musical institution - versatile, vibrant, and absolutely unforgettable.
