Jimmy Butler's Coffee Shop Is the Latest Tech-Influencer Fever Dream in the Mission

Warriors star Jimmy Butler has officially invaded San Francisco’s coffee scene with Bigface, a pop-up coffee shop that’s more Instagram backdrop than caffeine destination. Located in the former Lucca Ravioli space at 1100 Valencia Street, this temporary coffee experience is turning heads with its eye-watering prices and tech-meets-celebrity aesthetic.
Walking into the shop feels like entering a curated brand experience rather than a traditional café. Prices start at $10 for a pour-over and climb to a staggering $100 for a “coffee flight,” targeting a demographic more interested in social media bragging rights than affordable caffeine. The shop even sells $75 t-shirts, positioning itself squarely in the realm of streetwear and athlete merchandising.
The pop-up, running through July 27, has already drawn significant crowds. On its opening day, lines stretched around the block, with influencers eager to document their visit. Square, the payment processing company that owns the space, seems to have fully embraced Butler’s brand takeover, allowing Bigface to transform the entire corner store into its personal marketing playground.
Interestingly, the shop pays subtle homage to its predecessor, with staff wearing shirts that playfully reference Lucca Ravioli and even selling pasta and marinara sauce alongside their premium coffee offerings. Black Jet Bakery from Bernal Heights provides pastries, adding a local touch to this celebrity-driven enterprise.
While Butler himself wasn’t present during the opening, the pop-up represents a growing trend of athletes leveraging their personal brands beyond sports. It’s a microcosm of San Francisco’s ongoing love affair with tech, celebrity culture, and performative consumption.
For those more interested in actual coffee than Instagram moments, plenty of neighborhood cafés offer comparable quality at a fraction of the price. But for the influencer set, Bigface offers something far more valuable: a chance to be part of the latest viral moment.
