San Jose’s William Street Park is about to become a canine paradise this weekend. The 27th annual Bark in the Park event is bringing together thousands of dog lovers and their furry companions for a day of celebration, community, and animal rescue awareness.
This year’s event introduces a game-changing feature called Animal Rescue Row, dedicated to local rescue and adoption organizations. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet adoptable dogs and watch these adorable pups showcase their talents on the main stage between 3 and 5 p.m.
Event organizer Annie Hermes emphasizes that promoting animal adoption has always been a core mission of Bark in the Park. “While creating a festive space for animal lovers is important, connecting dogs with forever homes remains our primary goal,” she explains.
The day promises non-stop entertainment, with the Veterinary Emergency Group hosting several crowd-pleasing contests. Highlights include a pet/owner lookalike contest at noon, a dog costume contest at 1 p.m., and a tail-wagging competition at 2 p.m. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a suggested $10 donation for adults. Kids and dogs enter for free.
Best of all, the funds raised will directly support vital local organizations like the Humane Society Silicon Valley and the San Jose Animal Care Center. By attending, you’re not just enjoying a fun day out but also contributing to important animal welfare efforts in our community.
For dog lovers, animal advocates, and anyone looking for a heartwarming weekend activity, Bark in the Park offers a perfect blend of entertainment and compassion. Whether you’re hoping to meet a potential new furry family member or simply want to celebrate our four-legged friends, this event has something for everyone.
