If you’re planning a night out at Chili’s, prepare yourself for a magical yet potentially brutal drinking experience. The restaurant’s latest themed cocktails inspired by the musical “Wicked” are taking social media by storm, and not just for their Instagram-worthy aesthetics.
Chili’s has released two movie-themed margaritas that are becoming legendary for their potency: The Good Witch Marg (pink) and the Witches Brew Marg (green). Each drink costs just $6, making them incredibly tempting for budget-conscious drinkers. The Good Witch features blanco tequila, dragon fruit syrup, and a cute swizzle stick wand, while the Witches Brew combines blanco tequila with granny smith apple syrup and a broom-shaped garnish.
TikTok has been flooded with viral videos documenting the drinks’ surprising strength. One Utah resident, Kyle Thorn, became an internet sensation after documenting his misadventure of consuming seven margaritas in one sitting. His now-famous video warns others to limit themselves, emphasizing that while delicious, these drinks pack a serious punch.
Chili’s Chief Marketing Officer George Felix embraced the viral moment, stating they’ve “loved watching how guests are getting into the fun and sharing that over-the-top energy on social”. The drinks have become so popular that people are specifically visiting Chili’s to try these movie-themed cocktails.
While the margaritas are part of a promotional tie-in with the upcoming “Wicked” movie, they’ve clearly transcended simple marketing and become a cultural moment. Just remember: moderation is key, and seven margaritas are definitely not recommended - no matter how magical they might taste.
