If you’ve been sleeping on Raising Cane’s, the Louisiana-born chicken finger empire is about to make it impossible to ignore. The fast-food chain is opening a second San Francisco location at 211 Jefferson Street near Pier 39 in Fisherman’s Wharf, and construction is set to kick off next month with a summer 2026 opening.
This is huge news for Bay Area chicken finger devotees. San Francisco’s first Raising Cane’s is hitting Stonestown Galleria later this summer, but this Fisherman’s Wharf spot will be prime real estate for both locals and tourists craving some serious fried chicken. The location puts it right next to In-N-Out, essentially creating a fast-food showdown at one of the city’s most visited neighborhoods.
Raising Cane’s built its reputation on doing one thing really, really well: boneless fried chicken fingers. The menu is refreshingly simple, you’re choosing between combos with three, four, or six chicken fingers, each served with the chain’s signature Cane’s Sauce, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast. There’s a fried chicken sandwich if you’re feeling adventurous, but honestly, that’s about it. No salads, no burgers, no overthinking your order. It’s the kind of straightforward approach that’s appealed to millions of people across the country.
The chain has been on an absolute tear lately. Founded in Baton Rouge back in 1996, Raising Cane’s now operates over 940 locations nationwide as of January 2026. Texas dominates with 200 locations, but California is catching up quickly with 129 spots already in operation. The Bay Area has been particularly receptive, with five locations already open, the Oakland spot caused absolute chaos when it debuted in July 2022, with lines out the door from chicken finger enthusiasts.
Fisherman’s Wharf itself is experiencing a major renaissance right now. Beyond Raising Cane’s, the neighborhood is getting a serious restaurant upgrade. The boozy Taco Bell Cantina opened in January to packed crowds, Oakland’s legendary Everett & Jones BBQ recently set up shop, and there’s a sleek new waterfront plaza coming where Alioto’s used to be. Even Castagnola’s, one of the Wharf’s oldest restaurants, is planning a comeback after settling some legal drama with the city.
This expansion shows how much momentum Raising Cane’s has built. The chain isn’t trying to be everything to everyone, it’s the opposite. By staying laser-focused on doing fried chicken right, they’ve created something people genuinely get excited about. And soon, you’ll be able to grab those chicken fingers with a view of the bay. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about the exact opening date.
