Spring is officially here, and with it comes one of the most vibrant festivals on the calendar: Holi. The centuries-old Hindu celebration of good triumphing over evil is taking over the Bay Area this March, and whether you’re into neon raves, family-friendly color throws, or just want to vibe with your community, there’s genuinely something for everyone.

Holi traditionally falls on the full moon in March, which means this year the festivities are kicking off hard on Saturday, March 7, seriously, there are so many events happening that day alone. But don’t stress if you can’t make it that weekend; celebrations are scattered throughout the entire month, giving you plenty of chances to get involved.

If you’re looking for a full-on party atmosphere, check out the all-white neon experience at Myth Lounge in San Jose on Friday, March 6. It’s 21+ only, features Bollywood beats, and honestly sounds like the kind of night that’ll end up in your photos forever. For something a bit more colorful and communal, the Fremont Holi Festival at Washington High School is perfect if you want to bring family or friends who might not be into the club scene. You’ll get eco-friendly colors, Bollywood performances, and actual food, all for just $5.

Want a middle ground? The AIA Holi Fest of Colors at Discovery Meadow in San Jose delivers nonstop dancing, food vendors, free color packets, and complimentary thandai, a traditional cold drink that’s basically summer in a cup. It’s the kind of event where you can actually enjoy conversations between dance sessions.

Other highlights include the Oakland Holi Festival, which promises dhol drummers and interactive dance lessons, and the Union City Library’s chill outdoor celebration if you want something low-key and free. Later in the month, there’s the Dublin Day Party if you’re into beer gardens with your colors, the Livermore Holi Moly for those who love glow-in-the-dark vibes, and even a kids-only celebration in Sunnyvale for the younger crowd.

The beauty of Holi celebrations across the Bay is that they genuinely reflect our community’s diversity. You’ve got everything from massive festivals with thousands of people to intimate library events, from late-night raves to afternoon hangouts. Most events encourage white clothing (so the colored powder pops even more), but honestly, just show up ready to celebrate and connect with people who are hyped about this festival.

Prices range from free to around $22, and most venues are accessible via public transit. Whether this is your first Holi or you’ve celebrated it your whole life, the Bay Area’s got you covered this March.
