The Outta Sight Pizza Crew Is Opening a Dive Bar in the Tenderloin, and It Sounds Actually Good

The folks behind Outta Sight, the wildly popular Tenderloin pizzeria that’s been getting Chronicle love and loyal fans since it opened four years ago, are making their next move, and it’s not exactly what you’d expect. Eric Ehler and Peter Dorrance, both former Mister Jiu’s chefs, are taking over the space at 460 Larkin Street (yeah, literally down the street from their pizza spot) and turning it into a dive bar called Reggie & Maude’s.

Here’s the thing though: pizza might not even be on the menu at this new venture. Instead, the owners are planning to offer what they’re calling “top tier” bar food with prices that won’t make you cry. Dorrance pitched the concept perfectly: “Wouldn’t that be cool if you could get a burger that’s really good, and a martini, for $20 bucks?” Honestly, in San Francisco, that’s basically a steal.

The name Reggie & Maude’s pays homage to Reggie Gamble and Maude Spencer, two pioneering sex workers and madams in the Tenderloin who fought for workers’ rights back in 1917 when the city was trying to shut down brothels. It’s a solid way to honor the neighborhood’s complicated and resilient history.

The space at 460 Larkin has had quite the journey. Most recently it was home to Pomeroy Bar & Grill, but longtime residents might remember it as the Irish pub Shovels or Harrington’s Harry Pub before that. Pomeroy closed recently when owner Mark Yatabe decided to step away, his business partner wanted out, and managing the spot solo didn’t appeal to him.

This expansion is a natural next step for Ehler and Dorrance. Outta Sight already blew up since its 2022 debut, which followed Ehler’s pandemic pop-up success at Fig & Thistle in Hayes Valley. They even opened a second location in Chinatown at 643 Clay Street back in January 2025, so they’re clearly onto something good.

The opening timeline for Reggie & Maude’s is still a bit hazy, the vibe is “hopefully sooner than later” based on their Instagram announcement. But honestly, the owners seem genuinely excited about it. In their post, they wrote: “we love the TL and want you to love it with us”, and they probably aren’t in a rush to keep the space dark for too long since it’s become a regular hangout spot for UC Law students whose campus is just a short walk away.

The real question everyone’s asking now: will they eventually do Outta Sight pizza at Reggie & Maude’s, or are they fully committed to keeping the menus separate? Either way, the fact that two talented chefs are doubling down on the Tenderloin with an affordable, quality-focused concept feels pretty important in a city where everything keeps getting more expensive.
