Urban Oasis: Treasure Island's Newest Park is a Bay Area Game-Changer

San Francisco skyline from Treasure Island

San Francisco is transforming Treasure Island with an exciting new urban park that promises to become a weekend destination for Bay Area locals and visitors alike. The 24-acre Cityside Park will debut its first six acres on September 13, offering breathtaking views of San Francisco’s iconic skyline including Coit Tower, the Transamerica Pyramid, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The park isn’t just about stunning vistas. It will feature innovative amenities designed to create a vibrant community space, including free-to-use barbecue grills and massive 20-foot picnic tables perfect for group gatherings. Bike and hiking paths will provide opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to explore the area’s unique landscape.

One of the park’s most anticipated features is the weekly Off the Grid food truck event, running every Saturday from September 13 to November 1. These daytime food truck rallies will run from 11 am to 4 pm, offering a diverse culinary experience with San Francisco’s beloved mobile eateries.

Accessibility is a key consideration for the park. Visitors can easily reach Treasure Island using public transportation, including the new Treasure Island Ferry and Muni’s 25-Treasure Island bus, which departs from the Salesforce Transit Center.

This development is part of San Francisco’s broader strategy to revitalize Treasure Island, a former naval base that is gradually transforming into a modern, mixed-use community. With new high-rise apartments and improved transportation infrastructure, the island is becoming an increasingly attractive destination.

Cityside Park represents more than just a new green space - it’s a symbol of urban renewal and community building. By offering stunning views, accessible public spaces, and innovative community events, the park promises to become a landmark destination in the Bay Area’s ongoing urban evolution.
