Get ready to lace up your running shoes and tune into some epic beats at the 20th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in San Jose. This isn’t just another run-of-the-mill race – it’s a musical journey through the city that transforms 13.1 miles into an electrifying urban concert experience.

Nearly 5,000 runners and 3,700 additional participants in the 5K and 10K races will hit the streets this weekend, powered by an incredible soundtrack featuring everything from mariachi to classic rock. Local bands like Mariachi Estelar, Math Class, Cadillac Jack, the Black Pandas, and School of Rock will provide the musical motivation along the route.

The event’s unique concept turns the entire city into a moving music festival. Runners will be treated to pop-up stages featuring an eclectic mix of genres – if one band’s style doesn’t get your energy flowing, just sprint to the next musical checkpoint. The finish-line festival at Plaza de Cesar Chavez promises even more musical excitement, with alt rock tribute band The Last Decade opening at 9 a.m. and Bay Area cover band Pop Rocks taking the stage at 11 a.m.

For those not participating, be aware that the race course winds through downtown San Jose, including Japantown, The Alameda, and the Rose Garden neighborhoods. Street closures and increased pedestrian traffic will be in effect, so plan your Sunday morning accordingly.

Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or just love the idea of running to live music, this event offers something for everyone. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon isn’t just a race – it’s a celebration of fitness, music, and community spirit that captures the vibrant energy of San Jose.

Registration and full event details are available at the official Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon website. So grab your running shoes, download a playlist, and get ready to rock the streets of San Jose.
