North Beach Gets a Globe-Trotting Cocktail Experience That'll Transport You Instantly

Restaurant

San Francisco’s cocktail scene just got a serious upgrade with Long Weekend, a brand new bar in North Beach that promises to take patrons on a global journey without leaving their bar stools.

Opened by the team behind Future Bars, known for popular spots like Bourbon & Branch and Rickhouse, this innovative concept will completely transform its entire atmosphere every nine months, diving deep into the cocktail culture of a different international city.

Their inaugural theme spotlights Havana, bringing Cuban vibes to Columbus Avenue through an immersive experience that goes far beyond just mixing drinks. Guests can expect an authentic soundscape featuring street conversations in Spanish, mambo and salsa music, and cocktails that capture the essence of Cuban mixology.

Despite US trade restrictions preventing authentic Cuban rum, the bar has creatively crafted house blends that mimic traditional Cuban rum profiles. The space itself is designed to feel like a slice of Havana, with graffiti walls and street art creating an atmospheric backdrop.

The venue offers multiple experience levels - a main bar area with just 12 seats, two mezzanine spaces including one called El Horizonte that can be reserved for small groups, and a basement vault dubbed La Boveda for more intimate gatherings.

Reservations are encouraged and offer two distinct experiences: a classic Havana bar setting or an underground, youth-driven atmosphere that channels the city’s contemporary artistic energy. Each reservation block is limited to 90 or 120 minutes, ensuring a curated and focused experience.

Future Bars’ founder Brian Sheehy hints that after nine months, the entire concept will transform, shifting to another cocktail-loving global destination. While they’re keeping the next location under wraps, the anticipation is already building.

For those looking to travel the world through exceptional cocktails without leaving North Beach, Long Weekend promises to be your passport to global drinking culture. Reservations recommended, wanderlust guaranteed.
