Adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts, rejoice! The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has just announced the lifting of seasonal fire restrictions across Bay Area lands, which means your weekend camping plans just got a whole lot more exciting.
As of November 19, visitors can now enjoy campfires and use portable stoves at campsites managed by BLM, including popular destinations like Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument and Fort Ord National Monument. These areas span multiple counties including Napa, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Yolo, Glenn, and Monterey, offering diverse landscapes for outdoor exploration.
Before you pack your marshmallows and hiking boots, there’s one crucial detail to remember: you’ll need a valid California campfire permit. These permits can be easily obtained from BLM, U.S. Forest Service, or Cal Fire offices, and are also available online through the Ready for Wildfire website.
In addition to restoring campfire access, BLM has also lifted restrictions on recreational target shooting and the use of internal combustion engines for off-road and trail activities. This means more flexibility for outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy the region’s stunning natural landscapes.
While the return of campfire season is exciting, it’s always important to practice responsible outdoor recreation. Be mindful of your surroundings, follow local guidelines, and always prioritize fire safety to help preserve these beautiful public lands for future generations of adventurers.
